Showered with Love…

…and lots of stuff!!

This weekend I was given two baby showers. One with family and friends, and one with co-workers. We are very loved and got very spoilt!

Here’s a picture of all of Squishy’s new things:

There are too many things to show pictures of everything, so I’ll just show one of the most impressive done by my grandma – she made up a clothes line on which she put all the clothes and blankets she bought or made for Squishy:

(Thanks to Squishy’s Grandma Germaine for these pictures)

Here’s a picture feom shower #2 of Squishy and Mommy cutting the cake:

(Thanks to Kristy for taking this picture!)

Thank you so much to everybody! We love all of Squishy’s things and know that he’ll be very happy with them all!

2 1/2 weeks to go…

… will it ever end??

It is fantastic to be off from work, and to be able to put my feet up and nap whenever I want. Except for the fact that I am nesting badly – I’ve been cleaning everything, organizing stuff and trying to get the house in order.

The only other downer, aside from the uncomfortable big belly, is also my wrist. I fell a few weeks ago at work and I was more concerned about the baby, than the rest of me. With all the swelling that was going on, I didn’t notice the pain in my wrist. However, the last few days it has gotten worse. I am faced with the decision of going for x-rays… or just living with the pain until after the baby arrives.

All of which is why… 2 1/2 weeks seems like a very long time! Come on Squishy!!

Only 3 1/2 weeks to go!

We are now at 36 weeks (and 3 days) pregnant! So far everything looks good. Luba said she didn’t think the baby would arrive anytime in the next week, so for now, we are sitting tight. We have appointments with Luba and Deb every week.

Squishy has definitely gotten bigger as I feel every bump and movement. However, we are working on keeping him facing my back. Currently, he likes to face my belly – so that means lots of yoga positions to correct this before labour!

We haven’t taken a photo for this week, but here is our 35 week shot:

A Pain in the …Ribs!

We had our 35 week midwife appointment yesturday. So far everything looks good. Apparently the pain I’ve been having in my pelvic area is not because of a fall that happened at work on Wednesday, but because of the muscles and stuff relaxing down there to get ready for baby. It is alot of pressure sometimes, and I’ve taken to using the elevator in our building now, because the stairs take too long! The pain under my breasts is because of the way my ribcage has spread. Apparently I have a short torso, so my ribs really spread to make room for baby – and that’s why it hurts so much there. That, and the fact that Squishy kicks me in the ribs all the time.

My unborn child wakes me up in the middle of the night – kicking me in the ribs! Is it wrong to yell at him? I do need to breath! He’s such a pain in the butt!

We also had our hospital tour last night, and know where to find all the good stuff – towels, big bowls for throwing up, the ice chip dispenser… and most importantly Adam knows how to work all the controls on the bed!

I’ll now be seeing the midwives every week. It’s getting very close… only another four weeks or so until I can have a non- rib-kicking night!

Oh, How We’ve Grown!

Squishy has grown quite a bit in the last little while – I can now feel every little movement he makes – and they are getting really strong! Especially those ones in the ribs! My belly has grown right along with him. And now I feel huge! Luckily last week I still felt cute. We had some maternity pictures taken by our wedding photographer. They turned out fantastically. U2 Rocks!

We our back from our trip to the mainland, and the U2 concert was fantastic! Squishy loved it and was dancing, jumping and kicking around. He is definately a classic U2 fan – he prefered their older stuff to the newer stuff… manybe because mommy plays the new stuff in the car too much! Anyway, the concert was wonderful. The circular stage was awesome and they really play into the audience – and walked around so they faced everyone (even the people behind the stage). My only regret is not sneaking in a camera to get a few shots! Oh well.

Here is the list of songs they played during the concert:

We had a fantastic time! We also did some shopping and got Squishy a few outfits from the Carters, GAP and OshKosh outlets, some classic pooh stuff from Target, and a footstool/toybox from Ikea.

Definately a fun get away before Baby Squishy arrives!

The Beating of a Little Heart

Last night after prenatal class I was lying on the sofa and I could feel Squishy move over to my right side. His back squished up right up top and I could feel a quick thump thump thump…. much too fast for hiccups. I started to time how fast it was – 130 BPM. Adam came over and listened with his ear on my belly and sure enough he could hear Squishy’s heartbeat and feel it beating under his hand.

All these little moments make me fall in love with both my boys, over and over again!
