Ultrasound part deux… hello from…

…our “Bundle of Boy”!! (Click the picture to read the shirt!)

Yup! Squishy is a little baby boy! We are thrilled to know we are having a son!

Edited to add some details of the ultrasound:
Squishy’s heart was beating at 161 BPM, and according to the tech, his measurements looked much better than last time, and everything seemed okay. His approximate weight was about 3pounds 15 ounces. He also kept kicking at us, so she measured his foot and it’s already 6.24 cm! We’ll find out more at our next midwife appointment in a week and a half.

Restless…

We have our second ultrasound in about three hours… it could be the ultrasound where Squishy will let us know if we’ll be bringing home a baby girl or a baby boy. Right now I’m very anxious about it…. and restless! Squishy must be feeling my anxiety, because in the last 12 hours Squishy has had the hiccups 6 times. (Although one time was because Adam startled the baby).

Hiccup!

Hiccup!

Hiccup!

This is going to be a long three hours!

30 weeks!

We have reached 30 weeks of pregnancy! Yay! We are 3/4 done! Woohoo! Some days I feel like there is not much room left for Squishy, and I think Squishy has been feeling the same way. This baby has been squirming around a lot, and waking me up from all the baby aerobics that is happening in there. Last week, I snuggled up next to Adam in bed, and Squishy kicked so hard – Adam felt it and was woken up!

However, kicking has had some great advantages too. A few weeks ago while I was asleep, Adam asked Squishy if he should buy me a diamond tennis bracelet for my birthday. Squishy kicked once for yes – so now I own this beautiful bracelet:

My new diamond tennis bracelet

Thank you Squishy! And Squishy’s Dad!

I also went out and got a new hair cut, although my sister says it’s a “mom cut” and now I look like a mom!

Short Hair

Oh well… approximately 10 weeks left, and then I really will be a mom!

Quack!

I think I am starting to waddle. Only when I’m really tired and my hips are hurting, but still… I’m WADDLING!! : (

The Happiest Baby on the Block!

Last night squishy’s dad and I went to our first parenting class – The Happiest Baby on the Block. We’ve learned to swaddle, shush and sooth our little Squishy. You can learn more about Dr. Harvy Karp’s methods here: The Happiest Baby on the Block

After the class Adam and I practiced our swaddling and are now in competition with each other to be the Fastest Swaddler on the Block! (I think I’m going to win!)

We also had an appointment with our midwife Deb yesturday. So far everything looks good. I’m measuring in the 50th percentile for belly growth, and have to go for a gluclose tolerance test. Squishy’s little heart is beating away at 150 BPM.

April 7th we’ll be going for another ultasound to make sure that our little Squishy is growing and developing like he or she should. And hopefully we’ll be able to find out if we have a she or he… please be cooperative this time baby! And make mommy the Happiest Mommy on the Blcok!

Hello Third Trimester!

We have made it to our last third of this pregnancy… the final trimester. The last two definately went quickly… hopefully this one will too.

At 27 weeks, Squishy is now around 2 pounds and about 14.5 inches long. Squishy can open and close his or her eyes, suck on his or her fingers and has sleeping and waking cycles. Squishy also gets the hiccups from practicing swallowing. And Squishy has a very powerful kick and punch!

Only 13 weeks left and counting…
